About Wayne Large
Wayne Large A Life Built on Care, Transformed Through Coaching
Before Absolute Training and Nutrition was a name, it was a feelinga deep-rooted belief that people deserved better when it came to their health.
For Wayne Large, that belief was shaped long before stepping into the world of fitness. As a critical care nurse, he spent years working with people at their most vulnerable where health was no longer something taken for granted, but something to fight for. That experience left a mark. It taught him how precious the body is. How connected physical health is to every part of life. And how much potential people hold when they have the right support.
But the traditional healthcare system, while vital, was reactive. Wayne wanted to help people take control before they hit crisis point. He saw fitness not just as aesthetics or performance but as a powerful vehicle for self-respect, confidence, and quality of life.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
In 2005, with nothing but a deep sense of purpose and a car full of equipment, Wayne launched Absolute Training and Nutrition. He drove to clients’ homes, one session at a time no studio, no marketing budget, just a commitment to help people become stronger, healthier, and more confident.
“I started Absolute from the back of my car,” Wayne says. “And for the last 20 years, I’ve continued to invest everything back into it to grow the business, build a team I believe in, and create a space that can have a positive impact on as many lives as possible.”
From those humble beginnings, Absolute has grown into a results-driven brand with private training facilities in Barnstaple, Braunton, and the Isle of Man. But while the scale has expanded, the mission hasn’t changed.
With heart, honesty, and excellence.
Wayne remains closely involved in the business, working with his team and clients alike to ensure that every transformation reflects the values Absolute was built on: care, accountability, and results that truly last.
This isn’t just about physical change. It’s about giving people their confidence back. Their energy. Their belief that they can do hard things, and come out stronger.
That’s the legacy Wayne set out to build. And it’s one that lives on in every transformation at Absolute.

Professionalism. Accountability. Real Results.
At the heart of Absolute Training and Nutrition is a simple but powerful philosophy:
Work hard, stay focused, and train in an environment where you feel supported not judged.
From day one, Wayne Large set out to build something different: a space where clients of all backgrounds could feel safe, seen, and supported. No mirrors, no egos, no intimidation just honest effort and genuine encouragement.
Effort is what earns respect at Absolute. It doesn’t matter where you’re starting from all that matters is that you show up and commit to the process. Our role is to guide you with clarity, care, and unwavering accountability.
Wayne’s early experience in high-intensity gym culture, paired with his background in critical care, helped shape a facility that balances relentless performance standards with real compassion and professionalism.
A BUSINESS BUILT ON PURPOSE. DRIVEN BY AMBITION.
From the outside, the growth of Absolute Training and Nutrition might seem like a seamless success story private facilities, world-class coaching, hundreds of transformations. But behind every milestone lies something deeper: resilience, relentless standards, and a refusal to settle.
Founded in 2005 by Wayne Large, Absolute began with no studio, no big brand, and no safety net just one man, a car full of kit, and a bold idea: that personal training should be personal, professional, and deliver a real return on investment.
Two decades later, Absolute operates elite facilities in Barnstaple, Braunton, and the Isle of Man, serving a growing community of clients who want more than the superficial promises of conventional gyms. They want results and they want them delivered with honesty, care, and unmatched accountability.
“Plenty of people talk about results,” Wayne says. “But few are willing to build a business that lives and dies by them.”
The truth is, the vision behind Absolute wasn’t revolutionary. Others have tried to create transformation-led training businesses. But few have sustained it with the same precision, culture, and unwavering commitment.

A TRANSFORMATIVE VISION FOR THE INDUSTRY
When Wayne Large first stepped into the world of personal training, he saw an industry filled with potential but falling dangerously short of it.
What should have been one of the most meaningful, life-changing professions had instead become fragmented, unregulated, and largely undervalued. Personal training, at its best, is a calling a chance to change lives, restore health, and build confidence. But too often, it’s reduced to gym floor hustle, sales quotas, and burnout.
Many commercial gyms operate on a broken model: lease floor space to young, inexperienced trainers, offer minimal mentorship, and prioritise rent over results. The outcome? A revolving door of under-supported coaches and clients left disillusioned by a lack of progress.
Wayne envisioned something entirely different.
He set out to elevate the profession, building a business where trainers were developed, clients were truly cared for, and results were the measure of success. From his earliest days as a coach driving to client homes, to leading a growing network of high-performance facilities, Wayne’s focus has always remained the same:
- Raise the standard of coaching
- Create a career path for trainers rooted in purpose and excellence
- Deliver a trusted, proven system that puts clients first every time
Absolute Training and Nutrition isn’t just a gym. It’s a stand against mediocrity in an industry that deserves better and a blueprint for what personal training should be.

Built for Coaches. Designed for Progress.
From the very beginning, Wayne Large envisioned a place where personal trainers could thrive not by selling sessions or chasing leads, but by focusing purely on delivering meaningful results.
At Absolute Training and Nutrition, the role of a coach is clear: lead with expertise, support with care, and constantly evolve. We’ve stripped away the noise of traditional gyms so that our team can do what they do best coach at the highest level.
Here, professional development isn’t an optional extra it’s a core value. Every program, method, and strategy is open to scrutiny, improvement, and adaptation. No ego. No dogma. Just a constant drive to be better for our clients and for ourselves.
We don’t follow fads or cling to comfort zones. We pursue precision, demand accountability, and take pride in doing things the right way even when it’s harder, slower, or less convenient.
Because at Absolute, we’re not chasing quick wins.
We’re building a system and a standard that lasts.
Shaping the Future of Health & Performance
What began in 2005 with a handful of dedicated clients and a car full of equipment has evolved into something far greater a dynamic, forward-thinking business committed to reshaping the way people engage with their health.
Under the leadership of Wayne Large, Absolute Training and Nutrition has expanded far beyond traditional personal training. Today, our work touches multiple areas of the health and performance space from tailored coaching and nutrition strategies, to technology-driven tracking tools, education, and advanced client support systems.
As we continue to grow, our focus is now turning to what’s next:
How can we use the knowledge, data, and experience we’ve built over two decades to make high-level coaching more accessible, more intelligent, and more impactful?
We’re actively exploring new frontiers from smart digital tools to data-led personalisation aimed at giving more people access to expert support, no matter where they are or what their starting point may be.
Because our vision has always been bigger than fitness. It’s about giving individuals the knowledge, structure, and support they need to take ownership of their health on their terms.
And this is just the beginning.
