What Is Metabolic Testing?

 

Our Absolute Metabolic Testing uses indirect calorimetry  a science-backed method that measures the exchange of oxygen (O₂) and carbon dioxide (CO₂) in your breath. This allows us to determine two key things:

Your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)
This tells us how many calories your body burns at rest over a 24-hour period  a foundational number for accurate fat loss, maintenance, or muscle-building targets.

Your Respiratory Exchange Ratio (RER)
This indicates whether your body is using fat or carbohydrates as its primary energy source at any given time. It also gives us insights into metabolic flexibility, training intensity thresholds, and recovery needs.
